The Money Tree Project

About the Money Tree Project

The concept is simple: Cut out the middle man and everybody wins. Every year, billions of advertising dollars goes to T.V. Networks, Radio stations, and internet websites. But the advertisers target isn't the Network CEO's or Radio Station owners, and it's not the websites. It's the consumer. At the Money Tree Project, the consumer (as a Community) takes the place of the middle-man, and the advertising revenue ends up in your pocket. You can call this process optimization, partnership, community-effort, or whatever else you want. We prefer to call it just plain smart.

The details are as follows: Every six months the Money Tree Project's advertising earnings are awarded to community members. Anyone can join at absolutely no cost, so this isn't a lottery. It just takes a little of your time, with the possibility of great return. The more you participate, the bigger the prize.

Without getting too technical, we want to help you catch a glimpse of the vision of the Money Tree Project. As a necessary first step in our growth, we need to sustain large numbers of visitors every day. This is why we've displayed, in a prominent location, a counter on our front page. The Phase I goal is to reach 1,000,000 hits a month. When we get to this point, the advertising revenue will start pouring in, and we'll really take off. In the mean time, we've opted to display Google Ads. This will pull in a little for the first few months, but they aren't meant to be permanent.

By our modest estimates, when we reach the traffic we need, top prizes would easily reach 5 figures every six months, with good consolation prizes being awarded to everyone. In reality, we expect the numbers to far exceed our modest estimates.

We should also mention a little bit about what users are able to do on the Money Tree Project website. Users participate on the site by submitting feeds (links) of interest. The links are displayed in general categories with a small user-written description. More frequently clicked links will be ranked higher and displayed appropriately in the feed list. This method of displaying and categorizing information is called user-based filtering. User-based filtering, just like the advertising revenue plan described above, cuts out the middle-man. Instead of letting big organizations decide what we should hear, see, or read, the Community gets to decide.
